A couple updates: payment plan, RCI exchange power, member site

Well, it's been a few months since I last posted and I do have a couple updates.  No, I will still not be doing any travelling so I can't give you any feedback on that for a while yet.

First, regarding the payment plan.  We did take the payment plan and were contacted by the privilege club back in Octoberish with an offer of 5% off if we were to pay everything up by the end of the month.  It was still bad timing for us cash-wise so I turned them down.  The rep was very speedy in her contact with me as well as accomodating since she extended the offer for me for a while in case we could set anything up.

I also have an update to report on the RCI exchange power my week received.  My last post I mentioned that I was a little disappointed that I received 10 exhange points for my deposited week.  This has now increased and is currently worth 15 exchange points.  This does open up quite a few more options for exchanging through RCI.  When I look at how many exchange points it takes to book into my home Jamaica resort, that has also increased to anywhere from 9 to 13 points.

Finally, I'll add a quick update on the membership site (www.bpprivilegeclub.com).  At the club website, there is a link for a member logon in the upper right of the page.  I had no success in the past getting into this member area but this is now working.  There is some worthwhile information on this site including this year's all-inclusive rates, updated member guides and such.  There is an account status link that has a separate logon that I didn't have success with so I think one of these days I'll call in and get that worked out.  Back when we signed up the salesperson was talking about a referral program and it just so happens the nephew just bought into a package so I want to check out if there is any merit to the referral program or if this was just additional BS.

That will be it for now.  I just wanted to through in a super quick update since it's been a while.

PS I would love to hear about your experiences if you've actually used any of your package.

I will be booking a trip for 6 to Mexico in the coming weeks, will post my experience. So far it looks like although we are using our week to go, the other 4 friends have to pay the preferred rate (not the week rate).

Also I was very disappointed with the airfare. You alluded to Bahia having their own airline department? They just forwarded me to RCI. Their prices are the same as any airline fi you just went on their site. Very disappointed at that. If there is a separate airline department could you share that? When I first joined the salesperson showed me an app and showed prices more like in the $300's from Toronto to Aruba, for example. Either way,the prices are the same as Aircanada.com which is a bit upsetting.

We too bought into Privlege Club in October 2012, were allowed to trade in weeks after 2 months to RCI (they were very accommodating), we are returning to GBP Riviera Maya in 5 weeks time to stay at the Privilege Club for the first time. Very impressed so far with the contact from Privilege Club Concierge.

I think their airline booking company is called Soltours but we just went ahead and booked direct with Virgin Airways due to lack of any kind of contact details for flight bookings. I have, however, made a list of questions to ask and get info about once we arrive.

I'll let you all know how it goes.

I also bought into the GBB privilege club last year and just booked my 1st trip, which will be in Dec 2013. Flight discounts was a scam, now I learned the private shuttle from the airport to the resort and return is $56 per 2 people, and originally we were told it would be free. Also, its been a week since I asked to deposit my week into RCI and still waiting for that.

Some one please update me how the RCI weeks works. Is that true we only need to pay $217/week to book thru RCI, is that per person or per room?

I am interested in possibly purchasing the Privilege Club. Can you tell me what the all-inclusive charge is? Do you have to pay extra for this when you use one of your weeks at a BP resort?

Yes the weeks you are getting is for the rooms only, you still have to pay for your meals. I contacted them to book one of my weeks in June but they are saying it's not available. Come on give me a break, I am booking 5 months before and they can't book me. This whole think is a joke, I think I wasted my money.

VACATIONERS EVERYWHERE BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE!!!! DO NOT buy into the Bahia Principe Privilege Clubs. They are a scam and a rip off. The sales rep will ask you many questions about your vacation preferences then use that information to tell you EXACTLY what you want to hear, which is FAR FAR from the what you will receive as a member. They make it very exciting, of course, with team cheers and applause as each person/family falls for their shady tactics. They even finish the transaction with glasses of campaign. A major distraction as you're signing and initialing your life away on an endless, messy, legally binding contract. Then you get home and you realize that membership, literally, has NO BENEFITS what so ever. You literally will not be able to book your vacation when and where you want to. And if you are lucky enough to get a reservation, you will be required to PAY even MORE money upon booking for a vacation that has been bought and paid for...or so you thought!! Customer service is nonexistent as well. Do no not become the victims of fraud and deception as my husband and I have. If you want to stay at Bahia Principe Resorts book your own travel or better yet go elsewhere. There is a copious amount of information from other "victims" on the internet stating that they too have been lied to and intentionally deceived.

All time shares are truly the same no matter where one buys from - why is it that people never learn - they make the same mistake over and over again !! Just say NO !!

Is it possible cancel the contract? I just signed up one week ago.

Good luck in cancelling your membership. My husband and I have been in contact with BP Privilege Club trying to cancel our contract signed last november 2013. Our story is basically the same one as Barbara Wagner. The sales representative (Joe) at BP Coba in Riviera Maya blatantly lied to us about specific questions and concerns we had so he could get his commission. My ongoing discussions with Service & Solutions at the Club are going nowhere since customer service means nothing to them. Their practices are definitively not ethical. STAY AWAY FROM THE BAHIA PRINCIPE PRIVILEGE CLUB.

I just purchased gold package last week in Jamaica. I haven't slept since getting home and researching. Paid in full and am trying to cancel. I guess a manager has our file but I called and seem to be getting run around. Just want out after 1 week. Has anyone been successful in getting out of contract?

During my trip to Bahir Principle in the Dominican Republic, I made the unfortunate decision to purchase a membership from Privilege Club after being persuaded and influenced by staff.

Initially, the deal seemed appealing, but upon gaining access to the membership some 15 days later, I discovered that most of the reasons I bought it were based on false information. The club misrepresented what the membership included and how it operated, and I feel deceived. I urgently request that you cancel my membership. I have conducted research and found that others have also experienced similar deceit. As a result, I am determined and committed to campaign for a refund and raise awareness about Privilege Club to prevent others from being tricked into purchasing this membership. If you have experienced the same, please contact me.

The Privilege Club membership has turned out to be anything but enjoyable and fulfilling; it is quite the opposite.
